There are more than a thousand wine festivals each year in Germany where wine lovers and connoisseurs can enjoy German wines away from home. Whether small or large, each village has its own special significance which honors Germany's long-standing winemaking tradition. And there are even more wine-related events, including countless vernissages, where vintners present their current collection and/or the new vintage.
The world's largest wine festival, the Dürkheimer Wurstmarkt, attracts more than 500,000 visitors in September each year and features typical carnival attractions, including a Ferris wheel, go-cart rides and a firework display.
