Wine Description It is quit a fashion among German wine-makers to produce Riesling Hochgewächs which can provide them more space to play with their skills. This excellent wine has the aroma of vanilla and oak. It has a clear taste of minerals and slate, with light after taste of ripe fruits. We can assure you that what we have to present here is a wonderful QbA that is dry, acidic and very pleasant. It will be an excellent company for spicy Asian dishes. |

Karlheinz Weis Estate
The two-hundred-year family-owned estate has been in the hands of Karlheinz Weis since 2001, when he picked up the production from his father. Like most Mosel wineries, the estate produces mainly Riesling, followed by Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Dornfelder and M¨¹ller-Thurgau. Its vineyard Burglay Felsen is Zell's top site on the southern side of the Mosel. The ground consists of slate with a higher percentage of finer soil and is very steep with inclines of up to 70%. At the top of the slope lies a forest, which retains much needed moisture. During dry periods, water from the forest floor is released into the sub-soils of the vineyards below to reduce vine-stress during drought periods. This site mainly produces Riesling.
Karlheinz Weis has already won many awards in both state and federal competitions and is considered at the forefront of a group of up-and-coming young Mosel vintners.
